I am a Children's Book Illustrator who is also an aspiring author. I work digitally, and also in 3-D, using polymer clay, papers and found objects. I am a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and have taken Children’s Book Illustrating classes at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). With both RISD and SCBWI I have found warm, supportive and motivating communities with which I am fortunate to be involved.
I grew up in an artistic home. My parents made sure that our home was always filled with music, art supplies and lots of books. My grandfather was a artist who painted the most remarkable paintings and murals. To support his family, he worked as a sign painter in the days when billboards were still hand painted and lettered. To this day, whenever I smell turpentine and oil paint, I think of him. When I was growing up, my parents tried their best to keep me in an endless supply of paper. Even with plenty of paper at my disposal, when I was a toddler I considered any empty wall just another blank page to be filled.
I'm afflicted with wanderlust! There are so many adventures waiting out there! My imagination feeds my wanderlust and my wanderlust feeds my imagination!
Coffee is the elixir of life, but a bit of dark chocolate doesn't hurt either!
